New review and award: Hana MC phono cartridge
Another 5 star review and recommendation award for the very affordable Hana MC cartridges has been published.
Neville Roberts, Hi-Fi Choice (UK) reviewing Hana SH/SL:
"...starting with Elgar’s Enigma Variations with Vernon Handley conducting the London Philharmonic Orchestra. My initial impressions are great. The sound of the violins achieves the perfect balance of being both bright and lively, yet smooth, which is certainly a tricky thing to get right. The overall performance is very good indeed... to check out how the Hana-SL handles female vocals, I play Barbra Streisand’s 'You Don’t Bring Me Flowers'. The song is brilliantly conveyed in the opening section and as the song progresses there’s no trace of brashness to her voice, just soaring energy. The Hana-SL gives a really sophisticated performance, which is very involving and refined... Both (Hana-SL & Hana-SH) are superb cartridges and are strong challengers to rival big-name brands at the price..." CLICK HERE to check it out.
New review and Recomendation for the new HANA moving coil cartridges
Ian Ringstead, Hifi Pig Magazine, Jan. 2016, reviewing Hana SH & SL concluded:
"...I really liked these cartridges as they were fuss free and just got on with their job of producing great music. The low output for me was better but this doesn’t mean the high output was poor or wouldn’t be preferred by some listeners. If you only have a moving magnet input on your amp or pre amp then the high output version is a no brainer. £447 is not cheap, but for a good quality moving coil it is very good value and is the lower end of a popular choice of cartridge type for audiophiles into their vinyl. Full marks to Hana, who obviously know what they are doing, for putting their name to a range of excellent value for money cartridges for the less 'well to do' vinyl fanatic. Both cartridges work well in both budget and higher-end turntable/ arm combinations and are well worth seeking out..." CLICK HERE to check it out
New arrival: HANA - brand new and very affordable MC cartridges from Japan
Just arrived and brand new: Hana Moving Coil cartridges from Japan. Hana (華) means "brilliant and gorgeous". Hana cartridges are produced by Excel Sound Corporation of Tokyo Japan, an established 50-year old company specialized in OEM cartridge manufacturing. Available in 4 models:
- Elliptical tip with low and high output (EL & EH)
- Shibata tip with low and high output (SL & SH)
The low output is 0.5mV and high output is 2mV. EH and SH cartridges are usable with most MM phono inputs. The prices are almost too good to be true. Hana EL & EH retail for $400 and Hana SL & SH for $650. This is a very down to earth price for a great performing product. CLICK HERE to check it out.

New review: ViV Lab Rigid Float tonearm wins a 5 Star Award on The Ear
We're glad to announce another award for the ViV Lab Rigid Float tonearm - the 5 Star Award of The Ear magazine.
Jason Kennedy concluded:
"...the Rigid Float is a rather unconventional arm and one that ignores traditional approaches to cartridge alignment, but like another idiosyncratic design, the Well Tempered, it produces superb results. It’s one of those analogue audio products that makes you realise that the conventions followed by the majority are not necessarily the only options. There is clearly room for thinking outside the box and the Viv Labs engineers are to be applauded for their inventiveness..."

New arrival: Shun Mook Reference 2 MC Phono Cartridge
Shun Mook's experience with ebony material led to the development of a phono cartridge whose body and internal parts were all made from a specially treated black ebony. In order to make the tiny parts, no cost is spared to obtain micro machines to fabricate the Shun Mook parts.

Each unit is then painstakingly tuned by actual listening in Shun Mook's preference Hi Fi system. This process usually takes about 20 hours. For analog fanatics this is a cartridge to behold. The production is limited, so call us and reserve yours now. CLICK HERE to check it out.
New review: Chisto's Easy Groove Record Cleaning Solution
Dato' Danon Han of Mono&Stereo wrote:
"... I tried it against the other liquids on hand, The Disc Doctor and MintLP, I prefer the Chisto. The Chisto does not leave a shine on the LP as the Disc Doctor will. The MintLP tends to make the cleaned LP to sound a bit veiled (to my taste). The Chisto is able to bring out more clarity and detail than the above mentioned liquids. I can hear inner detail being brought out to light. The dynamic slam is more taut and faster. Of course, I realized the Chisto Liquids do not bring out what is not there in the grooves but they made me realized how much I have missed without them...enjoy!"
