New review: KR Audio P-135 tube preamp - the "Little Giant"

KR Audio P-135 tube pre amplifier
The German Image HiFi (issue 6/2018) published a new review of KR Audio's youngest tube preamp P-135 - the "Little Giant".

Andreas Wenderoth concluded:
"...with the P-135 KR Audio has succeeded in a surprise coup. Despite its modest dimensions, it plays 'big' and impressively sovereign. It can do everything more than good, and it does the bass even better..."

New review: KR Audio P135 preamp on Positive Feedback

KR Audio P135 direct heated triode preampBrad Morrical of Positive Feedback concluded (August 2017):
"...so, what now to make of this smallest of high-end preamplifiers?  It is highly resolved in the best sense of the word where one can see into the recordings of sufficient quality. It has a soft touch that seems to be often in character with DHT (direct heated triode) output stages but loses none of the dynamics one would expect from a top preamplifier. All of this was more or less what I expected given the KR Audio heritage and it is just these characteristics that give their big amps such a strong reputation for performance. What surprised me the most was the effective punch in the bass that it delivers, which is the equal of the NAT Plasma and Einstein "The Tube" preamplifiers. This is also in character with KR amps but given the diminutive size of this preamplifier I was taken a bit off guard. Finally, music through this preamplifier just made sense and it welded things together in a convincing manner that allowed dissection without disintegration. I think that the KR Audio P-135 should be one anyone's shortlist when looking for a preamplifier between 4-10K Euro as it is really superb sounding and as such offers excellent value..."

New award: Valvet's Soulshine II tube preamp receives Golden Ear Award 2017

Golden Ear Award 2017 - Valvet Soulshine II tube preamp

Roland Kraft of Stereoplay concluded: "...Valvets Soulshine 2 confirms an old audio tube adage in the most beautiful way: With a simple, but carefully designed tube circuit and good components one can hardly do anything wrong. To the contrary, with its exceptionally quiet background, the Valvet Soulshine 2 sculpts the individual elements of sound into a wonderfully large, constantly coherent soundscape, while at the same time, doesn’t conceal any of the well-known, well-loved tube characteristics. It doesn’t make the old mistake of many tube amps - playing too mushy and imprecise, but  always maintains the stability, even at high volumes and charms its listeners with its reference-level dynamic abilities. When called for, it can play with the biggest and best,  but can also capture even the most subtle nuances of delicate, transparent soundscapes. The Soulshine 2 manifests its velvety smoothness, as well as beautiful tone colors and life-like emotions from the very first minute on..." CLICK HERE for more information

New arrival: Valvet soulshine II tube pre amplifier

Valvet soulshine II tube pre amplifier

The latest and best sounding version of Knut Cornils' soulshine so far is the brand new Valvet soulshine II.

Hand crafted near Hamburg in Germany, the soulshine II is a line-stage using ECC802S and ECC99 tubes and a new external solid state dual mono power supply.

The soulshine II shows exceptional detail, plasticity and sound stage. Everything is played on a black/still background. The listener hears no tube noise, but many tube virtues. Voices really have body, strings have the right fluidity, and an electric guitar sounds just like it should. Especially the harmony between silence and dynamics captivates the listener right away. The price is US $8,450.-
