The name Alberich harkens from Wagner’s Ring Cycle. He is the king of the dwarves and the powerful father of Hagen - both are small in scale, but when combined, they pack a powerful punch. Following the worldwide success of the modular 9.88 concept, Voxativ set out to apply the same formula to a more affordable, room-friendly model. It can be driven by any amplifier that is able to handle the complex load of Voxativ widebanders. A preamp output should be present to drive the woofer section.
More Than Just a Sub
At first glance, the Alberich² system may seem unconventional. After all, it pairs the compact Hagen monitor with the AST Ripol – a bass module that, in many ways, defies expectations. Some wonder: why such an elaborate solution for low frequencies? The answer lies in Voxativ's philosophy. The AST Ripol is not a subwoofer in the traditional sense. And Alberich² is not a hybrid system, but a fully unified two-way design that redefines what is musically possible in a compact footprint.
What makes the AST Ripol so unique?
Perfect Time Alignment – The AST Ripol works purely in the analog domain, without digital correction, latency, or artificial shaping. It is matched to the monitor both acoustically and mechanically, preserving the natural flow of the music.
Bass With Soul – Unlike conventional subwoofers that emphasize mass over nuance, the AST Ripol delivers agility, texture, and an almost electrostatic responsiveness – even in the lowest registers.
Seamless Integration – Alberich² sounds like one voice, not two components. Vocals stay anchored, spatial cues remain intact, and the emotional intensity is simply elevated.
We understand that others may offer simpler or less costly solutions. But Voxativ builds for those who listen not with their habits, but with their hearts.
Alberich² is not a compromise. It is a statement.

6moons.com's Srajan Ebaen concluded (06/25): "...for how well they have materialized this clever semi-active widebander hybrid as a new sub species, a Lunar Eclipse Award is the only appropriate distinction we have on this site. Congrats to Marie Adler and team Voxativ in Berlin. You've really gone where none have before. Or as Sir Richard wrote, 'I have only a mind to live, to enjoy, to work as an artist, to produce my works - but not for the muddy brains of the common herd'..." CLICK HERE
HiFi Knights Dawid Grzyb concluded (08/25):"...to properly express how enthusiastic I am about Voxativ Alberich2, it receives the same mark today as a full-sized specimen of a higher-tiered sonic competence. Congratulations to Marie Adler & Co. for landing this sharply dressed, smartly executed and gloriously voiced stunner. Oh dear, I’ll have to contradict Srajan’s findings some other time..."
